My experience

My editorial career began with about 12 years of full-time work in in-house corporate publications groups at Honeywell, Parker Brothers, Charrette, and Digital Equipment Corporation. I cannot imagine a better way to build a solid foundation: not only did I hone my editorial chops working with experts in well-established companies, but I learned about the publications production process and gained a host of useful soft skills, including interviewing, project and time management, collaborating, and problem solving. 

I’ve been building on that foundation ever since, whether contract or freelance editing and proofreading, working in an academic library environment, or just living life. (If you want the details, I’ve compiled a long list of jobs and responsibilities!)

Fun & professional development

I have a lot of experience but as a lifelong learner I also believe in taking courses and attending workshops and conferences to add to my skill set and keep my knowledge and skills up to date. There is always something new to learn or a different perspective to consider.
